Eco Organise: Storing handbags and shoes
Tanya Lewis - Guest Contributor - Eco Organiser
Shoes and handbags are an investment and come with a carbon footprint, so looking after them not only saves money it also helps to protect our environment.
Top 7 tips to store handbags and shoes
Tip 1
Never store shoes and handbags in plastic – plastic as a material is moisture resistant so it can’t breathe, this could lead to mold, especially if conditions have been humid.
Tip 2
Clean your shoes or handbags before storing
Tip 3
Stuff handbags with old tea towels to retain their shape
Tip 4
Cut up old tea towels and do the same with your shoes
Tip 5
Label shoes boxes: refuse the plastic PVC shoe boxes and sticky labels; simply write a brief description onto the shoe boxes, making it quick and easy to find your shoes.
Tip 6
Wrap handbags in old pillowslips (to keep the dust off and allow any moisture to escape)
Tip 7
Create a “home” for your shoes and hand bags. Make a habit of returning them to their home when not in use.
