Where to donate used bras and new underpants
Please visit Uplift Project to donate Bras and unused- new underpants.

The Uplift Project is an Australian registered charity setup to help women in disadvantaged communities. For some women a bra in often unobtainable or unaffordable. So far the uplift program has sent over a million bra's to women in Fiji, PNG, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Tonga, Solomon Islands, Philippines, Bali, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Botswana, Uganda and Paksitan, the Northern Territory and the Kimberley regions in Australia. There are many drop off locations for your bra Australia-wide. You can also post your unwanted garments to the organisation.

For more info about donating bras you can also check out their Facebook page.

This information is also available on our Stay Safe page

It’s important to us here at Ziilch that everyone trades safely and therefore we remind you to exercise all reasonable caution and take all necessary measures to ensure your transactions are safe and happy ones.

We’ve put together a few pointers for you to keep in mind when trading and collecting items.

Be aware of potential Scams

Never send money to another member.

If a person listing or requesting an item asks for money to deliver an item or courier it, you can report it by clicking on the “Something not quite right? Report it herelink on the listing page of an item.

If you need an item delivered, Ziilch recommends you arrange your own delivery so money does not exchange hands between yourself and the other Ziilcher. Examples of this are:

  • Posting a pre-paid self-addressed satchel to the member giving away the item.
  • Organising your own courier to collect the item.

Although most transactions on Ziilch are happy ones, sometimes listings that look innocent have been linked to fraudulent activity.

Some examples to look out for which may indicate a scam

  • People asking you contact them via an email address. Often this may appear in the listing or they may ask you in a Ziilch message to use their email address to contact them.
  • People asking you to pay for delivery. They will often ask you to pay via bank transfer or use a Load and Go card.
  • Listings posted in a suburb where the state does not match, e.g.Brisbane, ACT
  • Sad stories: deaths, accidents, loss of work. e.g.“My husband just died and I’ve had to move from Melbourne to Perth. I have the <item> with me in Perth now. I can post it for you if you cover the delivery costs“
  • Things that look too good to be true. We’ve had some generous Ziilchersgive away some fantastic items on Ziilch but always use your common sense and the tips above to ensure the item is genuine.

Reporting Scams

You can report scams to the government’s Australian Cyber Crime Online Reporting Network. You can find more information about scams here www.scamwatch.gov.au and read more about them in The Little Black Book of Scams, published by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Never provide banking details or passwords

Never provide your bank details, PayPal details or passwords to anyone over the internet or telephone.

Never reply to a phishing or suspicious email and never click on any links in the message. If you ever receive an email that looks like it’s from Ziilch about a problem with your account or requesting personal information, check your “Messages” in “My Account” on the Ziilch website first. If the email is genuine, you’ll see a copy there.

You can also forward questionable emails to spoof@ziilch.com.au and we’ll look into it for you. Do not respond to the email or click on any links in the message. Please do not remove the original subject line or change the email in any way.

Never disclose personal information when listing to give or receive

We recommend that you stick to providing only details about the item you are listing and general geographic details of your location such as a suburb or postcode. Don’t post personal details of any nature publicly on Ziilch.

Collection etiquette

Happy giving and receiving is what Ziilch is all about, so make a mutually agreeable time to collect items that you know you can keep – notwithstanding unforeseen circumstances, of course. We are all busy people and there is nothing more frustrating than making a time to collect something and having one party not show up. Most Ziilchers leave the item clearly marked with the members name on it on their porch ready for collection, this way if you're not comfortable meeting the other member, they can collect it at a time convenient to them.

Another point of note when dealing with the collection of large or heavy items is to ensure that both the giver and receiver have considered the necessary assistance to help moving and lifting the item.

Treat fellow members with respect

Sometimes things go wrong and there are misunderstandings, but we are all like minded adults trying to do our bit for the environment and our community, so remember even when things don’t go according to plan to treat fellow members with respect and courtesy.

To help ensure a pleasant community trading environment, ziilch has a member rating system that we ask you to use after each transaction is complete and of course you are also welcome to contact us directly if you would like to report inappropriate behavior.

Using Ziilch to give away things

Click the headings below for help on giving away stuff on Ziilch.

The item must be gifted or given away to somebody – at no cost with no strings attached!

What if I’m posting an item to another ziilcher?

You may request an appropriate postage fee to arrange delivery of items between yourself and another Ziilch member. Ziilch recommends that the person wanting the item posts a self-addressed pre-paid satchel to the person giving the item away. This means that no money needs to change hands and that the satchel cannot be used for any other purpose.

Ziilch is not responsible for loss of monies or items in the post. A safe way to handle money is to use PayPal Send Money or Request Money if arranging and charging another member for postage.

Whilst we originally welcomed people to use Ziilch to help find loving homes for pets that needed them, after considering our member’s comments and consultation with relative organisations, we have come to realise that this was not the best approach regarding responsible pet ownership. Accordingly we have taken the decision to not allow animals of any kind to be listed on Ziilch.

If you have an animal that you can no longer care for or rehouse, please surrender it to an animal shelter to ensure they are looked after and have the best chance of finding a new home.

  • Tools
  • Toys / Hobbies
  • Whitegoods

Please note: When listing baby items such as car seats, please make sure they comply with Australian Safety Standards and are no more than 10 years old.

It's also a good idea ,when providing details about an item you would like to give away, to mention if the item is broken or requires repair within the details section of your listing.

No, on Ziilch many people can request an item and you get to choose who the recipient will be.

Generally, we ask listers to keep their received item requests on file until collection has been made, just in case the first transaction falls through – thus enabling the item to be offered again to interested parties.

The decision is completely yours.

When members request an item, there is an option for them to state why they would like the item and this should help you in making a choice as to who is the best candidate to receive your free item. It might be the person who really needs an item like yours, or it could be that they can pick it up straight away.

You can also check the members feedback and see what they have given and re-used in the past by clicking on the Member Feedback button under View Requests.

Unfortunately there may be occasions when you don’t hear back from somebody who has requested an item or they fail to collect it.

If a member is unable to collect the item, you are able to Withdraw the offer in the Stuff I’m Giving Away section located under My Activity.

A message will be sent to the member who requested the item notifying them that the offer has been withdrawn.

You will then be able to offer the item to another member.

About Ziilch

Click the titles below for more information.

Free to list and free to receive, ziilch is online trading with a conscience. Become a member and be a part of creating a revolution in the re-use and recycling of everyday items you no longer need, that others may find useful.

Ziilch provides individuals, businesses, charities, not for profit and social enterprises a free online website to list unwanted and search for wanted items across a broad range of categories, including furniture, electrical goods, clothing, office, general household, garden and outdoor, automotive and computers – to name just a few.

• It costs ziilch to list an item
• It costs ziilch to want an item
• It costs ziilch to take an item

In Australia and globally, households and businesses are committed to doing their bit for the environment, however we have little choice when it comes to getting rid of hard waste and more often than not, at a significant cost to ratepayers and to the environment, we rid ourselves of these items into landfill.

How often have you replaced working household items for brand new ones, have left over renovation materials sitting in the shed or a much loved but unused cubby house in the yard? The fact is that most of us would much rather see our old and no longer used items put to good use in someone else’s home, business or by recipients of a charitable organisation, and this is where ziilch comes in!

Sound good? Here are a few more great reasons to use ziilch to give and receive, recycle and re-use;• Reduce unwanted clutter in your home

• Reuse another’s unwanted items
• Help the environment by reducing landfill waste
• Minimise your environmental footprint
• Find great free bargains
• Free, simple and fast online recycling
• Reduce curb side dumping
• Be a part of creating a sustainable community free trade platform
• Contribute to hard rubbish collection savings for Councils and ultimately for ratepayers

We hope you enjoy and benefit from using ziilch as much as we do!

To ensure that what we do here at Ziilch complements the work of charities, we’ve put together the following guide outlining what some charities won’t accept. This is a general list and it is always a good idea to check with the charity concerned if you are unsure.
