orginising lego

Are the children swimming in a sea of small plastic toys?

If all the packaging your kids lego came in has long gone and you’re considering buying something to store them in, check out our guide to storing lego with reusable containers.

Rather than a trip to the store, look no further than your cupboards. Here are three simple solutions to store lego and recycle your “throw aways” at the same time.

Here are just a few ideas that will save you money, save you trips to the store, help reduce your carbon footprint and help you create storage to calm the clutter.

storing lego in containers and zip lock bags

Storage

  • Rather than buying new storage containers why not try recycling your waste. Resealable stand up bags are tough, see through, easy to open and close, will stand on a shelf or throw them into the toy box.
  • Empty wipes containers are stackable, easy to add a label plus you reduce your waste to landfill.
  • Look for any packaging that will open and close, stand up, stack or easy to slip something into.
  • Wash the resealable bags in the dishwasher before using and dry well.
  • Who would have thought our waste can save us money, time and the environment.
  • Great for travel, store plastic toys such as Lego in cloth draw string bags such as sleep bag covers.

Manuals

  • Bed linen comes in strong clear resealable bags; they are great to store the loose manuals.
  • Re-use resealable bags but give them a quick wash and dry well before storing the manuals.

Cleaning

  • When lego gets sticky and dirty, simply place it in a mesh bag or a “delicates” bag secure the end and wash in the dishwasher. Hang on the clothes line to dry.

Note: For safety reason when using any bags for storage, remember use a hole punch or cut our a few air holes, just in case there are little ones around.
